| I’m still waiting evidence that SL don’t want Toronto even though they have been promoted LOL
Oh that’s right, there is no evidence.

| Quote Donnyman="Donnyman"What confuses this is Eamon McManus publicly came out on behalf of Superleague THIS AUTUMN and announced that Superleague chairmen did not want "a team antipodean and English players owned by an Australian dressed up as an American team" and he said they would prefer Toulouse being promoted instead (THE REALITY MAY WELL HAVE BEEN THAT THEY WOULD HAVE PREFERRED LONDON TO STAY BUT P&R LEGALLY HAD TO HAPPEN.)'"
It could quite easily. OTOH it could be a case of McManus angling for the odd sweetener going forward.

Indeed.....but the reality is that if the SL blokes flog off 25% of their product to a VC company then that new "partner" will want to see dollar signs.....something argyle hasn't managed to leverage with his gazzillions of bux. Fair chance that if the VC company can flog a 2 x 10 team league with games 7 days a week to global TV networks, then we'll see a decent deal....but shared between 20 sides.
If that's the case, then that'll be 20 UK based sides because perish the thought that the VC with just 6 teams in support could control the game with 55% f the power......then Jean and Co can get a hard-on for Catalan, Toulouse, Toronto and 3 others running the game.

Denise Brady of league Weekly interviewed Eamon McManus speaking on behalf of Superleage as regards promotion to Superleague. The article was headed "Saints boss backs Toulouse over North American clubs" He said "In France there is a meaning and infrastructure behind RL", he also said "TWP is a team of English and Antipodeans owned by an Australian in Canada, there is a huge difference between France and North America"
McManus opined that with Toulouse joining Catalans in SL there would be "new avenues with French broadcasters" of course McDermott for the useless TWP was sent out to tell us all there are no NATV deals and no NA players either. TWP's promotion killed any French TV deal. I've witnessed this type of thing where people like you troll all day with "no evidence of anything" yet when you don't like the facts you demand "evidence". I tend to read up on the game every week through the RL press and get the facts like the one above.
McManus preferred Toulouse to TWP, in terms of a straight choice between the two clubs up for promotion. I would have thought that if McManus and his fellow SL chairmen had not been legally bound to accept P&R they would have either left London in or promoted Leigh etc. But one thing is for sure Superleague clubs don't want the American dream.
Show me some evidence they do Steph?.....Come on??

Interview with Adam Pearson...
Where do you stand on Toronto? Do you think it’s a good thing?
I think the whole expansion development programme needs looking at. We need to decide what it is and where we want to go.
We’ve got Toronto, they’ve signed Sonny Bill Williams and got us some PR, it’s going to be a difficult trip to go there and play them in 48 hours. We’re the first team to go there, but they will be competitive and they will add something to Super League.
On the balance of it, I’m relatively happy they’re there and hopefully they have a sustainable model, underpinned again by a wealthy benefactor and hopefully they play a brand of rugby that adds to Super League.

Seems pretty luke warm to me.

Pearson has to promote Superleague in this interview even through gritted teeth. SL can't afford to have spats and rifts before it even starts. He's not going to say the likes of TWP, Ottawa and New York are some sort of breath of fresh air ESPECIALLY since 80% of his fanbase don't see anything good in the American dream. That American dream also lines up Hull.K.R. to be relegated to make way for it. Does Pearson want that - he's big mates with the Hudge? He just has to grit his teeth.
ANYWAY It appears that New York were due to meet the RFL for final approval for 2021 in "Early December" did you or anyone else see anything on this perchance?? Thanks in anticipation.

Just for clarity, I was agreeing with you, knowing AP if he fully backed TWP he would have said so.
New York, Ottowa etc. are pipe dreams, RL couldn't make a Welsh team work, Catalans isn't really French, Jean is a dreamer and a fantasist.

[i""Rugby league is a constantly evolving and expanding game - and now New York, is setting their sights on the Super League by the 2023 season. A team from the 'Big Apple' are set to join England's third division competition in 2021 - meaning they could realistically be in the top flight by 2023. According to senior journalist Dean 'Bulldog' Ritchie “They’ve got all their ducks in a row at the moment - money, home ground, sponsors – and I think by Christmas the RFL will formally approve New York for 2021,""
[/i
The meet with the RFL was supposed to be early December, this quote above put it back to "by Christmas", and now we are at the New Year? Anyone seen any approval yet?
