Exactly. How many Prime trials have been sold, just ahead of the peak retail period, "just to watch the footy"? And a lot of those will be accidently renewed.

To be fair to Amazon, and I am no fan of theirs, they refund you your accidental renewals. I had this exact issue when I joined up simply to get free next day shipping (something they almost try and trick you into doing).

I forgot to cancel it until I noticed it leave my bank and then went through a fairly simple process to cancel and they messaged to say they would be refunding me.

Fairly decent behavior considering they are known for being tax avoiding snakes.

if you do this you want to cancel almost straight away, within a day or 2 - they still honour the full months trial

So they did quite a lengthy piece this afternoon, none of it very positive. There is currently no deal done, apparently. There was mention that an offer was made way below the current one. One thing that came out was that one producer is interested in a fly on the wall type show which goes behind the scenes of a game before and after as well as showing the game, a bit like rugby league raw used to do. Other than that it was very much wait and see.

The other shows are part of what we need in a broadcast deal too, not just the games themselves. I’ve often thought RL in particular would be a good sport for fly on the wall because it’s combative and can be fairly feisty behind the scenes.
It has to be full unvarnished access though. No point doing a namby-pamby isn’t everything wonderful version. Needs to show the highs and the lows.

Bearing in mind that Super League is a Sky invention, it would say a lot about those running the sport if Sky pulled out, or offered a deal that was much less. That is a sign that the sport has failed itself.

It would affect Sky though. I'm among many who have Sky for the rugby league. If they didn't, I'd have a cheaper package, or maybe none at all.

But all those people who think they are gaming the system by watching for free on a dodgy box, this is what you reap. You steal from Sky and you cheat everyone else.

But the deal doesn't need to be sealed for another year. This might be negotiating, nothing more.

If you think SKY will drop or reduce the contract to show RL because I watch the games FOC on a mobile device 12,000 miles away then you're delusional.

It’s not because a few people watch it via iptv. It’s because there are 4-5 teams propping it up by signing players worth watching while the rest of the league sign amateur level players but expect to receive the same share of tv money.

But Stephanie dear....who will produce the players for the "non heartland" sides like Toronto, NYC or Ottawa once you cut off the main pathway to success of the young players from the areas where those same said "heartland" clubs will now be amateur and eventually fold?
