| It shouldn't be of any suprise fans of that joke club Wakefield are leading the protests about the referee yesterday on this thread. They're well practised in bleating about officials. It's all they're known for.
By contrast, the Salford fans have been well dignified in defeat. Whatever calls went in Saints favour I do reckon they had another gear in then had they needed to. I'm not keen on the wools, but they're worthy Champions.
Question is though, with top players moving on, can Salford remain highly competitive next season? The clubs which finished around them Wigan, Cas and Wire are not much to be feared so with some clever signings and a very shrewd operator in Ian Watson, they could well be in with a shout of getting to the GF again.

The Salford fans were a credit to the club. I felt the game needed a Saints/Wigan vs Salford final to break apathy. The question over how Salford would be supported was answered positively in an emphatic manner. A great atmosphere but equally laid back as well.
I think Salford will go ok next year; they’ve a good system and are very strong off the field. Hastings is a huge miss and a great signing by Wigan but Watson will keep them up there. Hopefully Salford will grow as a club as our sport needs to, I believe we’ve stagnated recently so all the more reason a ‘new’ team needed in the final.

| What a weird Thread.
As I see it, St Helens have been the #1 side in SLXXIV by an extremely large margin. The lost just 4 games out of 35 played across both competitions. The CC Final was an off day for them, the 2 losses to London were down to both a few missing players and London stepping up and the other loss was away to Catalan, who have a pretty good Home Record. Other than that, they beat everyone in front of them and finished 16 points ahead of 2nd place. They won the hubcap last year by 10 points. They have lost 5 of their last 52 SL regular season games, so whatever Wire or whatever other club want to say about their fans and referees etc, it's a pointless exercise to do anything other than hail them as the #1 team in terms of consistence in the last 24 months. They have featured in the last 4 major finals...has any other team achieved that in the Summer era?

But anyway yes Leeds appeared in the 2011 and 2012 cup finals and the 2011 and 2012 Grand Finals.

Well you're half right. If the stat is corrected to reality rather than made up nonsense, then a few other sides have managed it! Including wire who made 3 of the last 4 despite not being the all conquering saints side which I'm sure you want to point out that your version of Wikipedia says have now just completed the double treble!!!They deserve the league leaders shields and also a major trophy, fact is they should have won more for their dominance.

I stand corrected on the point about the CC final 2018 but my point is still valid.
They were have been the most dominant force in domestic regular season games for 24 months and anyone who argues otherwise is being disingenuous. 5 Losses in 52 regular season games is pretty impressive....Wigan who finished 2nd twice lost 18!

I’ve seen you post some crap but that’s terrible even by yo standards, he’s got a team with literally 13 world class players even I could manage that team. Craig Bellamy is the best manager in the world

It sums up how obsessed this forum are with St Helens not winning anything. A quite unhealthy obsession at that.

| Masterful performance by Saints, and thoroughly deserved winners; they did get the benefit of the doubt from Mr Kendall a few times, but certainly didn't need it, nor did it have any bearing on the outcome of the game.
I certainly hope that their style of play percolates to other SL teams next season - they have played with a brilliant combination of hard work and flair all year, which is a refreshing change from the spoiling and cheating of some of their rivals.
Aside from the ill-advised ranting of their sour-faced Chairman after the Wembley defeat, Saints have been exemplary in 2019. Fair play.
