Quote tonyblaidd="tonyblaidd"I can't see why we can't have 14 clubs in the premiership instead of every team keep playing each other 3 or 4 or 5 or even 6 times a year depending on cup, playoffs, etc. Then we have two going down and two coming up as well.'"
I think that 2 up 2 down may destabilise too many clubs, most of whom are treading water financially but, the first part of your post seems absolutely obvious to all, apart form those running the game.
On the one hand, we are told that clubs like London, Toronto and Toulouse increase the diversity and appeal of SL and yet, they seem unable to convince Sky of the increased value. It's obvious that the current 12 clubs dont want to water down "their share" of the Sky monies but, really ?
Considering that games are now spread over 4 seperate days (usually), which affects attendances, and yet there has been little or no increase from Sky.
I know that the TV industry is changing all the time and there is serious competition from streaming services etc but, IF the inclusion of these clubs makes our competition so much more vibrant and increases the appeal to sponsors and advertisers, it seems reasonable to seek an increase.
If on the other hand there is no added value to Sky (or whoever else) we are all wasting our time.
An increase to 14 clubs would certainly offer true balance to the comp, although this would still leave "magic"
