Catalan are a merger club, between XIII Catalan (Est: 1934) and AS Saint-Estève (Est 1965). This merged club continues to field a team in the French competition.....with a pretty French Looking line-up, but the fact that the senior side won the cup is tempered by the reality that they did so with a squad of overseas players, whilst having the entire southern Region of France from which to select French players. AFAIK, there are 22 Pro/Semi-Pro sides in France, yet in 15 Meetings between England/GB/England Knights, France have scored 124 points, which shipping 684.
Given your disdain for most things English, surely there must be a smart arris answer as to why the aggregate score is currently 8.2 - 45.6 in the Pommies favour?
An even more damning statistic is that in the last 7 games have seen France score 38 points shipping 330.....Going Backwards I'd say and most definitely helping the game in France.......and they still only attract 8,600 to their Home Ground......and this is a Stand alone heartland club, not one like Leigh or Wakefield, surrounded by other clubs with a rich history of rivalry, but you sneer at these clubs, not because they offend you, but because you're a sad little Australian Troll who dislikes anything English.
As a London Fan, I appreciate the hassles that heartland clubs have to deal with when competing for attention, but Catalans compete with a relegated Union side who still get 3,000 more at their home games......and at least when Perpignan Union enter a European Comp, they do so without having to pay a bond, because the organisers are scared of how few fans would attend the final......50,670....smallest CC Final in the modern era, highlighting that not only do Catalans bring nothing to the French game, they bring even less to the English game.......even us poor old Londoners dragged nearly 25k more to our final.
