I would argue it's down to interpretation though. They're attacking the line; advantage was over. If lui got tackled, it would have been zero tackle not a scrum

For example, is the free play still a free play as long as you play lateral. It needs clearing up.

I was under the impression the free play had been abolished. How long does the advantage rule go on for? I thought it was after a pass. At least it was during my amateur days

If it was that close,maybe it was worth a look with the VR.

The bigger question is why a top level ref like Ben Thaler missed the blatant knock in in the first place, fact us he either missed it or played the advantage, if its the latter it's the right call, if its the former he needs dropping to league one for a few week,

That and the complete disregard for player welfare.

Watts was hit late, very late and high! No penalty given but the match review panel deem it worthy of a ban.

Thaler shouldn't be allowed to referee until this is ironed out.

What I will say is when refereeing well, Thaler is the best one in SL however he often has games where he needs to be the centre of attention as he did Friday, some shocking calls for both teams.

Don't think he missed it because he reset the tackle count. It's more likely he was just using the video ref to confirm everything, although I did find it odd that the decision was sent up as a try if that was the case.

So the free play still exists if you dont go over the advantage line? I thought it was after the ball had been passed. My bad
