| You are confusing the word bipolar with the illness "bipolar disorder". Bipolar means to describe 2 things that are "polar opposites".... Eg. The distance between the ground and your high horse

| What a sad world we live in when people portray to be offended by this.

| All rovers fans must be racist as we sing dirty b&w baskets to Hull players/fans. Would you take that as a reference to Vitiligo??

| There is certainly a number of people who delight in being regularly offended,
There are also some people with bipolar attitudes on expanding the game.

| Quote bren2k="bren2k"Phil Clarke makes a living talking poop for money - and he's becoming increasingly obscure and nonsensical as time goes on. He still meanders to the end of a linguistic cul-de-sac and then stops dead without completing his point, probably when he realises he didn't have one to begin with, or fires out analogies and anecdotes that bear no relation to the issue at hand; many of which these days seem to be related to Football - or "the wigan club."
I use the pre-match build-up as an opportunity to complete household chores, or scroll through Twitter, or stare blankly at an empty wall with the TV on mute.'"
When discussing Wayne Bennett being involved in a training or review session at Leeds, he described it as being an own goal by the RFL (fair enough)... or an own try (not a thing Phil).
Tbf, how many of us could chat away spontaneously without ever saying something a bit daft? I mispronounced my on name in conversation earlier today.

| It's getting to the stage were saying anything is deemed offensive.
Bi polar had its place in the general lexicon long before it was used to describe what used to be commonly called manic depression.
I also dispare slightly when speach becomes limited as it impacts fundamental freedoms.
It also has to be taken into account the generations that people come from and their environment.
I would not expect my grandparents to be as quick to adopt non gender descriptions as say a 16 year old who may have grown up with that as common parlance.
I imagine soon all public comment will be curtailed for fear of causing offence, which will of course only benefit those opposed to Liberal democracy.

| Does Phil Clarke talk tosh?
Alot of the time, yes.
Does he mean to cause offense to people with protected characteristics, No.
Sometimes intent is important.

| The game was to start a mental health campaign ....
Maybe mentioning Bi-Polar in any form or intent was a tad inappropriate................ How many times have you heard a Rugby League side been compared as Bi-Polar
Hot and Cold . Inconsistent etc etc but Bi Polar at the start of a mental health campaign ...

| Quote My Mate Ronnie="My Mate Ronnie"With much great work done in the RL community on mental illness . And with some footy players seeking help for mental illness , depression etc .
Which once was a subject that was not spoken about in life in general we now are raising awareness of the illness , this Invisible Disability.
I have just returned from the South Of France and Barcelona , currently watching the Hull Kingston Rovers & Hull FC Derby so I was very surprised that whilst speaking to Brian Carney live on Sky TV during Hull FC warming up Phil Clarke referred to Hull FC as “ THE BI-POLAR SIDE OF SUPERLEAGUE”
To use this type of terminology to describe any footy side , player or anyone in day to day life is just wrong .
He could have said they are inconsistent etc etc .
But the “ BI-POLAR SIDE OF SUPERLEAGUE”
Clarke needs to think about what he is saying .'"
Anything can be bi-polar. Going from one extreme to another. The Earth is bi-polar, a sports team can be bi-polar, the weather can be bi-polar.
There’s nowt wrong with saying that.
