Quote: HXSparky "I get what you're saying, but Premier League football has such a hold in the UK that LFC and the other top clubs could easily fill their grounds many times over if they had the seats. I've been to a few round ball games at Anfield and the percentage of school age attendees is pretty small.
I'm bang in the middle of a house move at the moment, and won't go to any of the games as a result. If circumstances were different I'd have gone to one of the games, but it would have probably been next weekend. Money's tight for a lot of folk at the moment, and given 3 games in 3 weeks, a lot of folk will just go to one game (or maybe none, as they're all on FTA!?).'"
I am aware of both the stranglehold Soccer has as well as the sharp end of austerity hitting many people, but 63,000 bothered going to see Wales v Scotland in Cardiff at the weekend....what the hell is that all about? Wales v a Touring side maybe, but Scotland? Both Scotland and Wales as nations have been as hard hit by austerity as the North, but still 63,000 for a pointless friendly (other than to generate ticket/broadcast revenue). As far as I know there are 2 Pro scots teams and 4 Pro welsh....6 sides. We've got 11 pro sides in the UK but only got 43k over 2 games so far......it just doesn't compute.....RL fans have no RL outgoings until the new season in Feb, so whilst Austerity is hitting hard, it's the same for the fans of other sports too yet they seem to manage?
Where's the demand for tickets that these other sports have? Can you still by tickets for England v the Kiwis next week? Why? You can't get tickets to the Other England v NZ game on that weekend, so why are there still tickets available? Yes I blame the RFL, but I also blame the fans who are happy to whine on here about lac of internationals or lack of Media interest and then turn up in taxi-load numbers to internationals played in the heartlands.
67,919 was the attendance of the first 2 tests in 2015 with the total for all 3 a respectable 92,660 and 31k average........anything less than a full house next week will be an embarrassment to the RFL
