Let's be honest, there's a large contingent of "traditional RL fans" who will automatically hate any club which is further than twenty miles from the M62.

One of the major downsides to the old P/R and the upside to "franchising" is the opportunity for young players to prosper.
Back in the day, most (if not all) clubs under threat of relegation would sign journeyman pros who regularly swapped clubs in the lower half of the table of moved between promoted and relegated sides.
This didn't appear to happen anything like as much under "franchising" and we are likely to see a return of this "horse trading".
Mind you, Toronto re-started this trend many months ago
Take your point and I'm not especially anti-franchise. But if we've gone one up, one down then we should stick with it for a sensible length of time. Your point re youngsters is valid but it could be addressed by tweaking transfer regulations rather than looking towards another systematic change.

No doubt about that.

| Quote: wrencat1873 "Very true.
As human beings, we are hard wired to be wary on newcomers or anybody who is different BUT, that shouldn't make us insular and I always thought it was the task of the governing body to see the "bigger picture", to prevent a closed shop or to prevent decisions that were detrimental to the sport.
I dont think this is the case in RL, a sport which as always prided itself in being inclusive and non discriminatory.
Still, let's be pleased that London are back in the big time and at least it's within range for the masses and not just those with a hefty amount of free cash.
Definitely a big point. I am sure Australia had the same out cry for a while about New Zealand Warriors becoming part of the NRL. Catalans have proved themselves to be a very club super league club and I am sure in time Toronto will find themselves in SL and will offer plenty to it should their investors remain and put the calibre of player on the pitch they have been looking to sign.
That said I am chuffed to bits for London, the hard work that must go in behind the scenes to keep the club going, from name changes to having to move a few times, to still churn out the amount of young players they have and have contributed to this promotion is fantastic and shows the wider game in London is massively improved on what it was. This step back to SL could really make them especially with the youth structure they have in place
