As i promised you here is an extract of chapter Rugby League and Freemason....

FREEMASONRY AND RUGBY LEAGUE
It is very likely that there were links between rugby league and freemasonry, particularly during the early stages of the sport from 1934-1939. The man who gave the final approval for the Ligue Française de Rugby à XIII on 12 January 1938 was Camille Chautemps, Prime Minister under President Lebrun. Two days later, on 14 January, his government resigned. Camille Chautemps was initiated into freemasonry at Les Démophiles on 8 December 1906 (Grand Orient de France) in Tours. According to Father Tourmentin, he was apparently conferred a high degree and called ‘Sovereign Prince of the Royal Secret, 32nd degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite’ by his rivals from the extreme right. One of the most famous rugby league stadiums in France is in Perpignan. Built in 1962, it was renovated in 2006 and expanded in 2011. It was named after Gilbert Brutus, a well-known figure in the rugby league world. But who was he? Brutus held political office at Perpignan City Hall, first as a radical, then as a radical socialist, between 1919 and 1935, and was a major Catalan figure in rugby league. After playing for USAP (Catalan rugby club in Perpignan), he later became a dynamic manager of the club and was particularly involved in efforts to bring the ASP and SOP clubs closer together. He also trained as a referee and officiated at the finals of 1922 and 1923.

..............I EXPECT YOU TO PERPIGNAN ON 29TH AT GILBERT BRUTUS STADIUM FOR THE CONTINUATION AND PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK WE WILL ALSO TAKE BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS MEMORIES AND THE RUGBY LEAGUE PAINTER WILL BE WITH ME TO SHOW AND SELL REPRODUCTIONS

Sorry Frank, Gilbert Brutus was not famous in rugby league circles. He was 100% union from start to finish.

Sorry Frank. Gilbert Brutus was 100% union from start to finish and had no place in "rugby league circles".

Of course Stroger I know but the question was simply

Why French rugby league men call their stadium “ Gilbert Brutus” because before 1962 we had legends as Puig Aubert for example ?
