Offiah was easily the best winger of his era. I’ve not seen anyone with his pace and his ability to read the game and get himself in the right position to score. How many times did he just turn up on the opposite wing or on the shoulder of someone in midfield? Loads. When you add Olympic standard speed to that you have a special player. If he got the ball with daylight in front of him he scored 9 times out of 10 no matter where on the field or what distance.
Robinson was world class and had amazing footwork and pace of the mark. He could make a fool of the best defenders. But he wasn’t able to do the special things Offiah could.
