Tough! We should stop driving down standards to pander to mid-table sides. If the sides in 6th-8th don't have anything to play for, that's their own fault, and they certainly should not be within a chance of winning a championship!

Why should Wakefield (6th) and Hull (5th) have a chance of reaching the Grand Final?

The only place to point the blame at is those clubs for not winning enough games to still be in with a chance of finishing in the top 4.

There’s still 16 points to play for, it’s still mathematically possible anyone of the top 8 could finish top 4, if clubs choose to give up that fight, again is only their own fault.

Stupid, the rfl should wait to see what the points totals are like halfway through the year before deciding the playoff format, that way we wouldn't have this problem. But what can you expect when it's the rfl.

Would agree with the comments 5-8 not been good enough over the course of the season to warrant a tilt at the grand final however it's doesn't alter the fact that the super 8's are pointless. Sooner the format is changed the better.

The point if them is to have enough fixtures to produce enough income so that clubs can survive.

The alternative would be a 16 team league but then a lot of games would be one sided.

The point is that 5th-6th-7th-8th are not good enough having lost half there games and are closer to the bottom placed club compared to the top placed club. Everyone was equal at round 1, clubs have had 6 months to put in a challenge, thats long enough to sort the wheat from the chaff,
They are lumbered with dead rubbers but they can still influence the top 4 final positions for the home advantage.

Some pathetic posts on here from, I suspect, fans of “big clubs”.
Clubs like Trinity aren’t in there to have a tilt at the play off final but if the season so far is anything to go by they might well influence which teams do get to OT. Perhaps that’s what the “big clubs” are scared of - losing points to crappy little Wakefield!!!

And with Catalans and Huddersfield hitting form, there could be some 'nuisance' teams in those 5, 6, 7, 8 spots.
