Quote: BrisbaneRhino "knocker - its laughable if you think a short winger like Robinson wouldn't be smashed to bits in the modern game. He'd no doubt go OK ball in hand (although I don't remember him doing a great deal against Australia before he went to RU and he wouldn't be up against staggered defences like there were often when he played), but defensively he'd be targeted all day. He would not 'compete for the ball' against the best modern wingers on the end of an accurate kicking game. He was never that good in the air and he played in an era when kicking was nowhere near as accurate as today, when international wingers are all very big, agile men.
I personally think its sad that smaller wingers struggle nowadays. Some of the most exciting players I've ever seen were of that ilk, including Robinson and before him Des Drummond, but the game has changed enormously.
I don't know why people get so touchy about former players.'"
You are still using Robinson as your comparator and ignoring the traits i said would work which he never had.
I said Robinson wasn't a good defensive winger, that doesn't mean others cant be, who is being touchy, i certainly aren't, just pointing out your statement is not as absolute as you make out.
