TO BE FIXED |

| We have some problems in Super League.
- players complain of too many games, leading to injuries and burnout. Add internationals/cup games on top, and we've got real problems
- there's no official reserve-grade comp, so young players and players returning from injury find it hard to get match practice
- though there's been some improvement, there's still a two-tier Super League, with too many one-sided games
- the Challenge Cup is losing its magic
- we need to improve attendance at the Magic Weekend
Here's a one-stop solution.
- All teams have a squad with a minimum of 30 players.
- There is a cap on the number of games a player can compete in, in the regular season
- Cup games, the Magic weekend, and the playoffs don't count on the game cap
- Marquee players don't count in the cap
For a season with 22 games home and away, there are 17 x 22 = 374 player 'slots'. For a squad with 30 players, each player could just about get 13 games a year and fill those slots. Set the cap at, say, 15 games per (non-marquee) player and everyone should be covered.
Coaches now have two challenges: pick the best team for the week, and spell/rotate your squad over the year.
- Players play fewer games (fresher for internationals, etc.)
- Junior players get more opportunities
- There's strategy in how you pick a side to play the lower-level teams, and what you do with the table-leaders. This could even up games.
- There's added interest, and uncertainty, in cup/Magic games, as teams can field their best available sides, free of the constraints of the regular season.
- Player welfare is improved as the season is less demanding on any individual
