Daryll Powell will be at Cas for years as he is in a no trophy wins, no sack club

His only chance of silverware there is in the challenge cup realistically and that depends on getting favourable draws along the way.
DP's style of coaching and letting his side play an entertaining style of rugby will never get the club a GF win though if they can't tighten their turnstile like defense

Spot on really. Cas had the 2nd worst defence in the regular season, even worst than Leeds who were dreadful and around 200 points more than the top 4. Defence wins titles, just look at the score lines of last years finals. When it comes to crunch time finals aren't decided by a 36-30 score line. Just because people find them entertaining doesn't mean they'll be successful and unless the league starts awarding bonus points for artistic merit then going on about their style is pointless in terms of their ability to win silverware.

Cas still finished 5th despite having (yes I'm going to say it) consistently the worst run with injuries all season. I genuinely believe we will improve boat loads this year, starting with defence. I'm the most optimistic I've ever been for a season as a Cas fan and have confidence in Powell. Though I agree somewhat, that silverware is a measure of success so we need to win something, I think we can this year.

I hope not - most overrated coach in SL history. Recent success Leeds have had was more to do with the players than coach imo.

Those that think Cas won't be serious challengers because of their style of play no nothing about sport let alone Rugby League, you will be eating humble pie at the end of the year, Class & Steel!

I know Rugby League is about attack AND DEFENCE. Too many people are judging Cas on attack alone. Takes both sides....attack and defence to win titles.

And I'm not saying they won't be serious challengers but still plenty ahead of them in that queue. Quite a lot putting them down for CC winners.....AKA 'not good enough to win the league but I like them' vote. Could easily be away to Wire or Wigan and dumped out early doors in that competition.

I think we'll do okay this season but don't get cocky mate, we've only played friendlies so far.

And what precludes any team from having an exciting expansive attack and a good efficient defence ?

Nothing precludes them.....Cas just haven't shown they have title winning defence. Warrington racked up more points than Cas but conceded a couple hundred fewer.
