Looks like he lost out to the Burgess clan.
They were flow halfway across the world, so a theory is "we might as well get our money's worth"

| More likely get as many NRL players in as possible. The Burgess twins sub for each other in games so that will be something they're used to. They also should be pretty fresh - I don't think either of them played 20 games this year due to injury (George had surgery that kept him out for a while at the start of the season).

Bennett, barring any last minute injuries has confirmed the 17. From that it looks like Lomax at FB, Sarginson in the centre and Bateman SR or bench.'"
Would prefer Williams over Widdop, but I think his experience playing in a higher intensity league has influenced Bennet's decision.
Other than that, I think that's our best available team.

| Widdop has a better all round game and as you point out plays in a much better comp. Williams has awesome moments but often looks lost. Widdop hasn't had the best season but has still done ok behind a beaten pack in a far superior league. He is also the best goal kicker at that level in the squad.

| I agree with Widdop over Williams. I think Williams is a great talent but still a bit raw.

| Williams has had moments that look outstanding attacking the line. But in a league that gets $hitter every season.

| If Widdop played in SL he'd be a superstar of the league
Gale has been the best SL half for three years running for me though
