| Quote William Eve="William Eve"Fantastic news that Wales are spreading the gospel of RL beyond their heartlands by staging a fixture in Wakefield.
Scotland will soon be spreading the gospel in places like Hull, Workington and Coventry.
But not in Scotland, obviously.
That wouldn't make any sense at all.'"
The Wales RL tried a number of grounds in Wales but we're unable to find any who could accommodate them on Friday or Saturday then they had to plump for Wakefield and no doubt JK becoming a Trinity employee in a few weeks helped.
I would guess Merthyr RU club will the the venue of choice for the next few years as I fear for the relationship between Crusaders and Wrexham FC and fitting in Welsh games too might put even more strain on that. For once the South seems where the stability will be as the Ironmen and Merthyr seems a good match and the artificial pitch will mean there won't be the need to move games due to pitch work and the like which has dogged Crusaders year in year out.
Hopefully I'm wrong and Cru will stay at the Racecourse long term but time will tell.

| When the game has to resort to staging a Wales international in Wakefield, it really is time to pack it all in and quit pretending to be a professional sport administered by professional people.
Without the GB brand and scheduled domestic seasons between August and May, international RL is utterly screwed, as it has been since 1995/96 .

Does the same apply to the Brazil football team who stage a number of "home" matches in Europe?

Thats ok then. Wales are big enough that they don't have to play games in their own country to get people interested.

It isn't listed on either S4C or BBC2 Wales programme guides.

Most Rugby Union clubs in Wales have events on at their club houses on a Friday night so a short notice friendly could not be accommodated and of course will be holding games on Saturday be they 1st or 2nd team games.
It's more down to Welsh Rugby Union teams being semi professional and making money outside of rugby than RL and its professionalism.

A bit like a Candian team playing in an English league.

| Well, for all of the "knockers" out there, it was a decent game and but for the ref's (Cobb) whistle, Jamaica would have very likely won this one.
A hat trick for Jones Bishop, the third of which tied the game, giving Jamaica chance to win form the conversion, followed by a contentious decision (not to give a knock on) from the resulting kick off which was spilled by Jamaice, which meant the game finished 16 -16.
The penalty count was massively in Wales favour but, the sin binning was certainly right (for a a "spear" tackle).
Jamaica played some good stuff and defended really well, with Wales struggling to make yards with ball in hand.
Good game and just a shame that so many "fans" prefer Eastenders on a Friday night, instead of spending a tenner to watch a decent game of RL

Oi, I gave up double Corry to go!
I think 1400 was a decent enough crowd, with a bit more planning it could've been better - I'd like to have seen street food and a bit more of a carnival, but I think Wakefield stepped in at the last minute to put this game on.
Have to say it was a fantastic friendly atmosphere and a very entertaining game, without the worries and anxieties that go with watching Trin.
Jamaica were very well drilled considering the short time they've had together - Glenn Morrison has added a gilt edge to his coaching CV.
