| I’d keep Carney well away from presenting. He’s by far Sky’s best pundit and commentator and he should focus solely on that.
Eddie is a good commentator, and Wells and Clarke (when he’s not trying to be controversial) are good at their roles.
I’d like to see Sky have a totally separate studio and commentary team like they do for Thursday games, so a new presenter would be needed.
Keep it simple!
Presenter with 2 studio pundits, and a commentator with one (or two max) co-commentators. That way it wouldn’t be the same voices doing the same role every match!
I think Sky should bring Tony Rea back on a regular basis as a studio pundit as he offers a great insight in to the game. Barrie and Terry should go, or at the absolute most be used sparingly for Catalan/Championship matches.
I don’t think I get the idea of having ex-players as the commentary team solely. Their coverage would benefit from bringing in journalists such as Gareth Walker and Andy Wilson.
Anyway, I think Sky have said that they aren’t replacing Stevo and are going with what they’ve got.

Probably the worst idea on this thread, RL journalists are some of the most boring and pitiful people around.

| Quote kobashi="kobashi"Carney is being groomed to replace eddie hemmings.
I would like sky to maybe bring in someone completely new. Maybe Paul Sculthorpe'"
Has Carney done any actual game commentary, sorry but he is never a commentator in a month of Sundays, not even close, I want proper running commentary, interspersed with the odd/occasional comment from a well spoken/intelligible pro, I don't want the shizzle format we have to put up with now.
Cummings wants slinging too.

| Anthony Rea (aka Tony Ray) is ineligible because he is an Australian. Sky will not risk alienating British viewers with the regular vocal sounds of a laconic Australian.
At least his wife Diane, better known as Di, is English (that's right, Di Rea). She is reportedly an eloquent public speaker. Better her than him.

| I'm not quite sure what people see in Carney - he struggled to string a coherent sentence together without getting his tongue tied; he also takes himself way too seriously.
Like it or not, a lot of games are boring as hell and a forgone conclusion before half time, so you need someone who can have a bit of banter in such situations.
I will miss Stevo, but he sure deserves a happy retirement and a lot of praise for his enormous contribution to our game, on and off the field.

| I like the idea of an Aussie commentator and agree that having two northern accents does enhance the stereotypical view of RL.
Quote Biff Tannen="Biff Tannen"We need to get an Aussie as one of the two main commentators. No need for two broad northern accents like Tez and Baz on together either, it just drags the game back to the stereotype. Give them two their own little slot of interviewing players before the game or whatever but keep them away from the box.
Carney plus someone else new who is decent in the box, nobody else. There are two many voices spouting nonsense right now it makes your head hurt. Clarke and Wells doing the pre/post match analysis and Baz and Tez kept to larking about with the players in sketches and interviews.Cummins - get rid just no need. This is a real chance for SKY to sort out the staleness they have with their coverage so i hope they take it.'"

| Carney and Wells are great n tv, but they are not replacements for Stevo. Carney should be the replacement for Eddie's tv work and be the face of RL on Sky (a la Linekar on BBC football), with commentary by Eddie and then the other up and comers. Not an ex player for commentary.
I like McDermott as long as he drops O'Connor.
Outside the team Wilkin is great and would be a good addition if BBC let him go.
I like the idea of having coaches as well. Cullen or Kear did a good job but there are plenty of eloquent people in rugby league who with some training will make good summariser. hey should just look at the se old same old.
