Quote: Biff Tannen "I don't reckon this statement is correct at all. Yes, fans want to see a tough close fought fixture, i can think of many low scoring thrillers, but the game on saturday was as turgid an affair as i personally have seen in a long long time at what is supposed to be the pinnacle of the game. The skill levels were poor, creativity non existant, and the game was stop start, it had no flow at all. If that is what you want to see, then fair enough but i'd wager a high percentage of the 45k who saw the game live in the stadium would have said they were very disappointed with what they saw, in what was a great missed opportunity to showcase our sport on a national level.'"
That's true, but sadly that is the nature of sport and what makes it different to the entertainment industry. Sometimes it follows the script but usually it doesn't. This idea that you can somehow create marketing spectaculars is a myth - be great if you could - then again maybe not.
You just have to take the rough with the smooth.
