Sports tourism generates huge money, but the RL authorities need to cash in on it.

This event obviously has a dollar value to the places that hold it, and RL authorities need to get them to bid for the event.
They don't have to bid with actual cash, but need to do things like provide events around the weekend that RL fans would enjoy, pay for a strong advertising campaign to sell the event, subsidise travel for fans - all things that would benefit the game.

The most money for RL would be realised if several cities were vieing for the right to hold this event, and were putting proposals together.

RFL need to do a financial review of the commercial impact on the host city ie how much money is spent in the city in bars, restaurants, hotels etc as well as the profile benefits to the host city. This will give them a strong case for putting it out to a tender process. NRL did similar for soo and got millions from the host cities.

Needs to return to Newcastle next year and build on it in my opinion, having 60k+ RL fans wandering about the city and its suburbs/commuter towns is great promotion in itself, and I'd like to think that a large % of Geordies are now at least aware of what the event is, which means we are halfway there to actualy getting them to buy a ticket next year.

The ideal scenario though is that Newcastle, Manchester and Cardiff get involved in a bidding war host it and we keep swapping between the 3.

And who will be paying the money that you are looking get?

Football clubs won't pay for the rights, local authorities are skint and the tourist boards have had funding slashed.
