The clubs seem to put all of their effort in to marketing season tickets then give up for the rest of the season. But the frustrating thing is they can do it when they put their minds to it, the other week Hull did loads of marketing for the derby, groupon deals, social media advertising etc and got the biggest Derby crowd for 5 years despite it being on TV and our team being poor. Yes it's easier to market a Hull Derby than every other home game we gave, but we seldom bother for the rest of the season.

I also hope the top8 clubs give marketing the super8 games a real go, surely it isn't hard to advertise a ticket for 3/4 top of the table clashes with the added carrot of being given priority for CC final (if your clubs still in it) and playoff tickets. If we can't get big crowds in for those games we may as well pack the sport in.

I agree with the opinions on Marketing, even at Leeds one of the most suscessful teams in the league. We rely solely on our core support of 14-16k and our only marketing is a banner outside of the ground and emails to people on their mailing list.

We could be touching 20k most games IMO, if we reached out to sport fans and created a presence in the city outside of headingley.

There's a union club not far from mine- they could market their arris off it still wouldn't make me go watch. I'm forever getting offered cheap tickets for football- never been, never will.....

I think your point is valid, we all have core support, keeping that is the only way to sustain growth, get people into the habit of regular game attendance & use offers to get them to bring a friend or family member who may then get into the habit of attending its slow but realy the only way to grow. At KR we get a lot of family groups at our games as we tend to play most games Sunday afternoons, I would worry if we had to move to many games to 8pm fridays as our friends across the river have done as 8pm is far to late for a lot of our crowd with young kids in tow. Would that game have got a better crown Sunday afternoon? on TV or not? or do certain clubs target different audiances, 18 to 30,s for example.
