Again, because this kind of thing interests me, is there no National Lottery funding? I, and probably loads of others, am under the impression that this project is the kind that it was designed to help.'"
There are funding pots out there but the various pots fund different things so you have to approach such carefully.
The Lottery funds a fund called Awards for All that funds up to £10k for community group projects but that tends to stay away from facilities.
Then there is other Lottery monies channeled through Sport England. Our long-term aim is to grow substantially which means we might want to go to the lottery downstream for one of the larger Sport England administered funding pots (Inspired Facilities etc.) and hence we wouldn't 'grant chase' funding now for this project which we want to be community led.
We do have some bids in associated with the hub project - Bury Council have committed £1,000 and we've some others we're hopeful about. The overall project is at least £10k so the £3.5k ask here is just part of the bigger picture...that's why every little helps!
For extra incentive - I was asked today to play again next week (i've stopped) for the Bury 3rd team. I'm not aware of any other RL side running 3 teams other than us which just shows how our approach can drive up participation!
