The 7 games they play in the Qualifiers should help them prepare for the million £ game though, and it'll likely be contested by at least one Championship side (could be two SL sides
). They'll play four games against SL oppo and three against the other top Championship sides - that's decent preparation?
Even the sides that finish the Qualifiers in 7th & 8th will have learnt a lot from the experience, know what they have to do next time and come back and give it a better go.
