What are peoples thoughts on this?
Assuming it's true, and it would be a libellous comment by The Sun if not, WTF has it got to do with him who other clubs do or don't sign. [i[uWe've had plenty of NRL players who have come over after doing stupid things in Australia[/u[/i in the past. Bird and Monaghan without even thinking about it, hasn't seemed to have bothered him before. Is he just worried Catalan May become genuine contenders with a player of that quality on board?
Players make mistakes and like most other people have the right to earn a living and have the chance to move on with their lives. He and Leeds have rightly stuck by players who have done stupid things so what makes this so different?

Poor from Hethrington if true. Like OP said, it's nothing to do with him. I don't see how Carney will tarnish SL's reputation any more that what Hardaker, Ryan Bailey, Chev Walker did.

| Let me get this straight. A club boss who has just been charged with "improper conduct...a breach of operational rules...by engaging in conduct which is prejudicial to the interests of the game", feels it is right and proper to try and influence other clubs to speak out against a club hiring a player because it might "tarnish the competition's reputation"?
Oh sweet irony.
I bet there were more than a few chuckles as emails were opened at SL clubs today.  |

He was a vocal critic when Catalan signed Australian Test star Greg Bird in 2009 after he had been released by Cronulla as he faced charges over an alleged assault.

Isn't his gripe more to do with the fact that Catalans being able to sign players whom can't get a visa in the UK gives them an unfair advantage?
Either way, I couldn't care less.
