| It's not clear what he says from the video clip posted or to those who have the game recorded. If you state you 'know' he said 'Puff', you're a) lying, or b) allowing team or player bias to cloud your judgement, even subconciously. The same goes for those who 'know' he didn't say 'puff', but rather something else.
If the RFL feel an investigation is necessary, that's fine. An investigation is just that - they want to find out the truth of what's happened, and realistically there's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure we all want to know the truth, and I'm sure the RFL have access to many more angles and recordings of the incident than we do, so it's hopeful they will find out the truth moreso than any of us guessing.
I am interested in how this came to their attention - a complaint from the referee or another player is understandable, but if it was people complaining on social media, whilst I'm not complaining about that exactly, I do wonder if it only counts for verbal abuse fans believe they saw, or if it could be anything in the frame of a game. How many times have we shouted that a tackle was high, or dangerous, that someone has committed a professional foul, yet the referee hasn't seen it? If we make enough threads about it on RLFans, or complain on Twitter, will that also lead to the player in question being 'under investigation'? I'd not being sarcastic, I genuinely wonder if this is something that would happen. If not, why?

It's fascinating how the RFL spends all year round being slating for not being able to do things properly and generally being useless and making a mess of things.
Yet those who either think Hardaker is guilty (or would like him to be) are trying to portray a picture of the RFL as some efficient, well run, thoughtful and all around quality organisation who'll do a fine good of investigating this.
Reality probably is that after Leeds questioned there actions they were hopeful that the case would die down quite a bit after a few weeks before quietly announcing a no charge verdict. Hardaker bringing it back up again in the last 24 hours might force them to eventually do something in the next 48 hours though.
This isn't some complex murder trial or phone hacking scandal which requires plenty of evidence and time to build a case. It's simple, either the ref heard him say it or not.....it's as straightforward as that.

The RFL can confirm that no further action will be taken following an investigation into an incident in the First Utility Super League fixture, Leeds Rhinos v St Helens played on Friday August 29.
Details of the investigation were presented to the RFL Match Review Panel which concluded that there was insufficient evidence for charges to be brought.

| Oh so Leeds fans were right not to get in a tizzy about the whole thing? Good. Moving on, nothing to see here.
