I refer you to these photographs. You will see the same person who kicked the mascot's head revealing his Widnes shirt to the Castleford supporters. To borrow your remark, "Surprise, surprise."

Surely it should exceed the £20k Cas got for throwing bottles against Catalan?

| I've removed the video although it was a fans video taken on a smart phone not a 20th Century Fox blockbuster movie or a BBC Drama series.

If I remember correctly, the fine was for Cas not taking sufficient action after the incident and not the incident itself.

Was this the one where Cas fans threw bottles and the refs had to lock themselves in their changing room?

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM WIDNES VIKINGS
WIDNES Vikings have pledged to work with the RFL to investigate the disgraceful scenes that followed at the conclusion of the Semi-Final of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup at Leigh Sports Village.
Widnes Vikings, as a club, wishes to apologise to the sport of Rugby League, the BBC and the partners of the Challenge Cup, Tetley’s, for the disgraceful scenes perpetrated by a minority of their supporters following the end of the game.
James Rule, Vikings CEO, said: “After all the hard work that’s gone into this season, both on and off the field by various stakeholders of the Club it’s sickening to see such shameful scenes perpetrated by a minority of ‘supporters’.
“We will now work closely with RFL and police and carry out a full investigation into this afternoon's events. If any supporter is able to provide information and names that will assist our investigation then please send that in confidence to tellus@widnesvikings.co.uk.
"It's imperative that we all work together to try and salvage what is left if our reputation.
“The Club's recruitment drive for next season has been put on hold until such time that we can establish the full cost to the Club for today’s actions.
“We will work fully with the RFL and the BBC to identify each and every individual that brought shame to the good name of our Club at full-time.”
No further comment at this stage will be made to allow time to conduct a full investigation.

| I always feel sorry for the majority of fans and the club in these siltation. Its a rock and a hard place. You have to punish business owners paying wages who themselves did nothing wrong and potentially deprive the real fans of their sport with debilitating fines or bans. It always feels like tarring with the same brush and I know how I felt as a Hull fan who was in no way involved with our incident and yet had to take the barrage of abuse we got afterwards, its does not feel fair, mainly because it isn't like any indiscriminate action.
Clearly there needs to be a message put out, like there was against Hull and Castleford previously that we are a family game and this is not acceptable and that will need to be brought against the Widnss club, but all the same I hope that there is sufficient evidence here via CCTV, TV, press and the mobile pics and videos to bring prosecutions against the actual culprits (morons) here.
Personally I would support a hefty fine, supported by strong commitments from the Widnes club including life time ban as the appropriate action from our sport, and appropriate police action aside. I wouldn't, for what its worth, support a ban from competition or league points being docked.

| The RFL just needs to set a precedent so that other idiots don't think supporting Widnes is an excuse to be a yob. When Castleford were under investigation for the bottle throwing, we issued out about 5 or 6 lifetime bans, took the fine on the chin, and our support has been noticeably calmer/less dickish ever since.
