| I understand the new system easily enough - I also understand that it's utter rubbish and a complete gimmick in its attempt to artificially create an 'every game means something' situation (sick of hearing this phrase thrown around). Regardless, as is the same with the current setup, at some point in the season there will be games that are irrelevant in terms of whether a team ends up in the top, middle or bottom 8.
Switzerland used the same system for about 15 years - they got rid of it because attendances, tv revenue and sponsorship were suffering so much. Once they got rid, average attendances were up almost 50%.
If we were going to bring back relegation it should have either simply been one up and one down or have a playoff style game between the bottom Super League team and the top Championship team with the winner being in Super League the following season.

All well and good, but, top championship club salary cap - £400,000 if they get dispensation, bottom SL club - £1,800,000. Championship overseas quota - 1, SL - 5.
You can't have teams playing with different rules in the same competition, that is what needs resolving if we are to have promotion and relegation. If we can't resolve this, don't have promotion and relegation

Next year Top championship clubs have £1m s.c and super league has 1.6m s.c - super league can have 7 non-fed and championship 5.
Not the same, but similar enough for it to be competitive...

£1m will be more than nearly all clubs in the Championship will turn over in a year! Aside from Bradford and London, Championship clubs will only be getting £500k (1st 2014), 400k (2nd 2014) and a sliding scales £350k downwards.

Haven't seen anywhere suggesting it changes?

B1:12A
At the time of notification in any season of the Provisional First Team Squad and First Team Squad and following any amendments during the season, a Club’s First Team Squad, where that Club is in Super League, must consist of:
a maximum of 7 players who satisfy none of the definitions of Club Trained, Federation Trained or are working towards either classification.
a minimum of 7 Club Trained Players or Academy Juniors working towards that classification.
the remainder being made up of Club Trained, Federation Trained Players or Academy Juniors working towards either classification.
B1:12B The following definitions shall apply to Clause B1:12A above:
‘Club Trained Player’: a player who has been on the Club’s register for any 3 full Seasons before the end of the Season in which he ceases to be eligible by age to play at Under 21 level. For the avoidance of doubt, from the 2010 Season onwards a player must satisfy the requirement to have been on the Club’s register for 3 full Seasons before being ineligible to play at Under 21 level in order to qualify as a ‘Club Trained Player’ and the fact that he may have qualified as a ‘Club Trained Player’ in the 2008 and/or 2009 Seasons shall be irrelevant.
‘Federation Trained Player’: a player who, for any 3 full Seasons efore the end of the Season in which he ceases to be eligible by age to play at Under 21 level has been on one of the Club’s register or the register of another Club being a member of the same rugby league Federation. For the avoidance of doubt if a player moves from one Club’s register to another Club’s register and there is a period of no more than 28 days in the Season (as defined) and any amount of the period between the 1 December and the day of the first League Match, Representative Match or Cup Tie (whichever is sooner) between being removed from one register and being registered with another Club, consecutively shall not be broken for the purposes of this clause. In addition a Club may apply for a Player who has been granted New Talent Pool status by the RSCM (see E1:5.12 below) to be granted Federation Trained status.
‘Academy Junior’: a player who is eligible by age to play at Under 21 level and who is on the Club’s Register.

| Quote tenerifeRhino="tenerifeRhino"How will it grow the brand of super league by splitting half of the "elite" division and making them play small provincial part-time clubs.
It will totally devalue the Super League name.
If we took this year as example, how do you think Salford playing championship teams will pan out...a few 3 figure results or very close too me thinks'"
Super League, Super League, Super League, Super League
Its Rugby League, not just Super League

SL 1.825 million plus up to 100k England squad allowance
825,000 is a significant difference plus overseas signings difference.

| What I like about the middle 8 is that it addresses the inherent flaw with straight P&R, ie. the assumption that the top of the lower division are better than the bottom of the higher division and thus deserve the place more. For Championship teams to be elevated above bottom SL sides they must demonstrate it on the field in the new system.

There has never been that assumption. It is clear from when we did have p&r and the promoted team had to sign at least half a new team just to have any hope of being competitive that this isn't the case.
