Quote: SmokeyTA "Saracens are a really well run rugby club and the guys there know what is necessary to take their club and sport to the next level.
I saw an interview with Edward Griffiths their CEO about a minimum salary cap, relegation, and how it was important to create the best product and its clear why their crowd of 27k is a disaster, whereas Bradford getting less than 3k in our premier cup competition is glossed over. Some leaders are prepared to take the tough decisions to meet tough goals, some simply take the decisions their power base wants and find excuses.
There is no point in us laughing at Saracens getting 27k in their semi final, we will be lucky if our 4 quarter finals get that in total.'"
I'd argue strongly that they are not a well run club at all.
They lose millions and millions every single year - iirc it was around £5m last year. Look at the likes of Leicester and Northampton as well run clubs, not just somebody who can spend money that they are not getting in.
Considering their higher levels of central funding, the fact that fans will pay higher ticket prices, and sponsorship is pretty high, they should not be losing that level of money.
They can do plenty of nice things if they have somebody prepared to waste millions of pounds a year, but that in no way makes them a well run Rugby Union club.
