| Quote CrusaderPete="CrusaderPete"No, look at it this way.
London were, and are now again a Championship (2nd tier) sized club!
They were taken over when Brisbane were "tipped the nod" that London was to be "given" top flight status.
Successive owners have spent a lot making the product appeal to "fair weather fans" and failed!
A couple of poor seasons and they (like yourself) won't come anymore, and it implodes.
This is now the SECOND time this has happened, first as Fulham and now with Broncos. (3rd if you include Highfield)!!!!
In fact all 3 clubs managed the heady heights of 6k averages, spending more than they had to achieve it and eventually the inevitable happens. There aren't enough Antipodeans in London interested in live RL to sustain a top SL club, if it's not a TOP club, you won't come, so[u I believe we are better off without you guys[/u, to slowly develop from the bottom up as a competitive Championship club (which we were before the hijack).
You do realise we had more fans in the 2nd tier than we do now don't you? No, well we did, 'nuff said!'"
According to the website a walk up ticket to go and watch London play averages around the £20 mark.
So I turn up with 5 mates ...that's about £120 on tickets alone...not including the money we will spend on a few beers, food, programme etc etc. If we have a good time we will come back next time there is a home fixture .. maybe we will bring a few more people.
I think fair weather fans are just as important

I'm not saying I don't want you to go Shane, I'd love you and your buddies to come along what I'm saying is London RL were not big enough to sustain a high end top flight club, the club should have been left to continue it's development from the ashes of the old Fulham club, building steadily instead the same mistake was repeated!
There aren't enough of us to sustain the investment required!

over exaggeration or what? .
London don't have a core set of fans that can support the club independently so fair weather fans are massive for them.

Exactly my point and the reason i posted this thread. Its not a dig at London if anything its more why haven't the RFL helped the Broncos out more, the past 2 season hasn't sent the club back to day one. There is a growing fan base in London or "down South" but they aren't going to pay money to watch a team get thumped every weekend.

| The problem with RFL help dubs' is it all revolves around maintaining London at top-flight, to help them sell to Sky so Sky can sell SLE.
The help we needed was a permanent home, lots of small disused stadiums around, Edgware FC, Leyton FC to name but two and a plethora more for LONG TERM sharing.
But no..."build it and they'll come" mentality prevailed and here we are, a third time....staring oblivion in the face.

I look at it this way. I live in London. I hang out with people who like live sport. We would happily come along and watch a game if the product was any good. So if we did...and enjoyed the whole experience...we would tell other people...who would maybe go along and see for themselves.'"
i trust you haven't been to watch the broncos live at the hive?
why not give it a go? maybe the team isn't exactly setting the SL alight but im sure if you were a genuine RL supporter then im pretty sure, you would enjoy watching live games? it's not all about the winning, i experienced the best times watching huddersfield when we were rubbish,as it was the whole social thing as much as the result of the game.
surely as a fan or rugby league you would want to see a london club prosper and would want to do your bit to try and help it happen?

| Personally thought it was a spirited performance from London who are quite clearly well behind the rest. But they will improve and just like Salford their playing rooster has had a massive overhaul. As others have commented I think I've only heard of 2 or 3 of their players. So they're trying to put together a completely new team, it takes time. Unfortunately, by the time they've gelled it's probably going to be to late.
But, the problem doesn't lie with the playing squad. How can a club continually up sticks, move and expect to grow it's fan base? How can you possibly support a club with gates around 1,000? Forget how they perform on the pitch. The club needs to sort itself out off the pitch and settle in one location otherwise you might as well shut up shop. Heck, if Wakefield moved as much as London and it was as problematic to get to these grounds as London I'd have packed in a long time ago.

Agree 100%, and when they find that level get the right people in place to grow the business and in time raise their level in the pecking order. Maintaining that false position will just end in disaster.
