| Spot fixing relies on one individual having an excessive amount of control over what he or his team is doing at any given point.
A bowler in cricket is in complete control of the game at the time he has the ball in his hand, so it is easy for him to influence what goes on (such as bowling a no-ball to order). In football, it is not difficult for a footballer to make a slide tackle that earns him a card and it's not difficult for a tennis player to throw a set or serve a double fault.
I can't think of many cases where an RL player is in that much control, other than potentially a goal kicker who could, theoretically, miss a kick by order of a betting syndicate (which would make such a bet more likely in union that RL) and possibly making a high tackle to order. I would think that any other type of 'spot fix' would be very difficult without the involvement of several players on the same team which, one would hope, would blow the scam's cover.
As for whether lower paid sportsmen are more affected, I'm not that sure. Matt Le Tissier wasn't on a pittance and he admitted to being involved in spot fixing.

If they've no involvement it's hard to ban, but since all superleague players know each other quite well, who's to say they're not giving each other inside info? Bit of a tough one

As a punter, I have no problem with it, but can see why, to the wider world, it is sensible for sportsmen not to have a bet on their sport.

There was (as is now the case) a delegation from major sports that attended the meeting. RL was one of the 5 that attended.
I put no emphasis on the "the" at all. It was simple English. "RL was one of the five" not "RL was one of [iTHE[/i five" how you wish to read it is up to you but don't try scoring any bonus points at my expense.. '"
really?

| Let's not forget that the bookmakers have to actually offer a market first. Some of these scenarios are just daft. The most obvious one has to be the first scoring play.

Remember Tommy Martyn mention something at a Sportsman Meal, how him and Long had put money on the first point coming from a Drop Goal at Leeds a few years back (which apparently nearly came off, had it not for a charge down, IIRC, and Leeds running around to the other end to score a try).
