| Quote: Prince "So, staging a game which is guarenteed to provide cut-through in the London and national media, that could be marketed in a way that NRL does when they come to London, which is likely to help to continue to win new audiences for RL in the South (and thereby give more confidence to take international matches to Wembley), potentially introduce new sponosrs to the sport in the UK and, as far as I can see, isn't going to cost the RFL a penny, is going to hold the domestic game back?
You can roll your eyes all you want but the simple truth is that State of Origin will appeal to two markets, hard core RL fans who know all about it and Aussies living in/moving through London
I'm sorry, but the rest of the UK sporting audience don't know about a game between two Aussie states and care even less. What they care about is International occasions (and the actual quality of the game is secondary to this). I am very sceptical that this would get anywhere near the national media attention that we think it should
As for holding the domestic game back. As a specific occasion, of course it wouldn’t, as the wrong thing to focus on and lose the momentum of the world cup then yes

| I would rather Rugby League went global than the NRL!
If the Australians want to come to Wembley mid-season, let them send the Kangaroos for a mid-season test at Wembley rather than a State of Origin game, that would do far more for the game in the UK

The NRL has a duty to look after its own interests if that means games in England,China and the US then so be it.If SLE want to sit at the same table then it needs to shape up.Drop the rubbish northern clubs and get more French clubs in

Mental? Yes!
ENGLAND v New Zealand in a RLWC semi-final with tickets as cheap as a tenner...so a fiver a game... left 25,000 empty seats......Australia v Australia b in the other semi-final was less than half full by the 2nd half.
State of Origin at Wembley? Let the ARL pay for it, the ARL promote it, the ARL sell it and the ARL reap the profits (if any)....it would mean nothing to UK or European Rugby League in terms of legacy!'"
I thought the vague proposal is that it would be purely an NRL venture? If they want to have a bash, let them. I do think they'd get a good crowd though.

Why does it have to be anything for ruby league in this country over and above a really enjoyable game of rugby that most fans wouldn't normally see live?
I' play it up north personally but either way I can't see why it would be a bad thing for UK rugby.
