'when my life is over, the thing which will have given me greatest pride is that I was first to plunge into the sea, swimming freely underwater without any connection to the terrestrial world'
Yves Le Prieur, the real inventor of the aqualung: |
|
| Quote: Sadfish "JG: You won't see many better games of rugby in either code than the State of Origin series played every year in Australia between Queensland and New South Wales. It's totally compelling, even for the neutral.
I enjoyed the England matches against Australia and New Zealand in this year's World Cup and look forward to watching the final this Saturday.
You can't help but enjoy big collisions and attacking brilliance. League is on the whole more dynamic because of the rules; union has its moments like that but it's a slower build-up to the crescendo.
Jonathan Davies told me I would have enjoyed rugby league. Although I had good offers it was never really an option for me while I was playing union for a very successful club side and national team.
Both codes have some truly special players that we all enjoy watching play their chosen sport.
He refused to play in the cross code games, think he was worried he might get hurt and have to do a defending stint.

People turn up for a parade. They turn up for the most minor of celebrities turning on the Christmas lights in their town or city.

How is that a contradiction? Some premier soccer games cost more than twickenham......class has little to do with the cost of a ticket....

| I would venture that most fans in attendance to England RU matches rarely/if ever go watch a club games. It is mostly for the social occasion & atmosphere as opposed to RL fans who go mostly for the rugby. Herein lies the difference in international rugby, at least in this country.
The hype/hyperbole drummed up in the media HAS had a massive effect, it continues to do so but RU is already deep into the national psychy but it is the ongoing sense of occasion/excitement that propels itself. Also England RU might have a chance of winning or getting close in both the 6N & WC. RU fans are also a lot more pragmetic than RL fans, they'll still turn up in droves even if England RU get battered as they did against Wales last 6N
