The one thing that let today down was the scheduling of the England match for TV. From the spectators perspective the Australia v Fiji match should have been the warm up game to the main event. As it happended half the crowd left after the first game and there was a constant stream leaving throughout the one-sided second game. Even I left more than 10 minutes from the end.
Oh, a second thing! The ridiculous loud racket put out over the PA everytime Australi scored - it got louder and louder as the crowd dispersed (whether because of a change in acoustics or upping the volume, I'm not sure). In the end it got too much and was one reason for leaving early. Please, please if you're going to play this inane rubbish RFL tone it down next time!
Forgot to add an anecdote to the thread yesterday:
One of the most pleasing things to see yesterday was that we were sat next to a young Cockney lad and his Grandad. This was his first RL game he had ever been too, and his Grandad hadn't been to a live RL game since a GB test at Wembley in the 90s. The young lad was captivated by the game, and both stayed well in the 2nd half of the Aussie-Fiji game despite how much on a non-contest it was, and the weather turning increasingly cold.
that to me is 2 new fans 'converted' and I'm sure there were many more in the stands and watching on TV that got the buzz of the game too. The challenge of course is to keep them.
