Here's a bit of a comparison for the glass half empty amongst us!
In comparison-

both semi finals at the 2000 world cup attracted a combined audience of 24,146 (equates to a 135% increase in attendance for 2013 semis)

both semi finals at the 2008 world cup attracted a combined audience of 42,554 (equates to a 32% increase in attendance for 2013 semis)

The final in 2008 also saw an attendance of 50,599 (the semi final attendance of 2013 alone of 56,000 is bigger than this, never mind a 40% increase for the final in 2013 approx 70,000 will be in attendance).

There will be 26,000 more people attending this world cup final in England than attended the last world cup final in England 44,329 & approx 20,000 more attendees than in 2008.

The rugby league community in the UK has really got behind this world cup however people always try and find the negatives, find the positives in our great sport for once!

Some Saints fan behind me at Warrington yesterday was moaning because we've hardly sold any tickets for Wembley and it should have been at Huddersfield! I literally starting laughing out loud.

The same bloke did say both ends we're pretty empty at the DW on Saturday night though so I'm sure he's got issues with his vision.

A 60k crowd will be great, even better if we can push it above 65k.

Beer goggles. Or he turned up at central Park rather than the DW and thought it looked a bit sparce.

That's not the way we do things around here.

Hopefully they will really get the message out in London. £20 to watch two games at Wembley Stadium is amazing value. When we had the international double header down there two years ago a uni mate of mine was desperate for me to find some transport so that we could go, purely for the fact that as a soccer fan he would never be able to afford a trip to the national stadium.

Back in April when Steve Mac went on BBC Radio 2 he mentioned ticket prices for the double header, they were inundated with texts asking were they really that cheap or had he got it wrong. Get Offiah etc on local radio and a few pages in the free papers/Standard.

If you are a fan up north bite the bullet, get yourself some tickets and find a way down there. You know you will only regret it!

Not very scientific but Jamie Peacock mentioed on TV after the QF that the SF would be great with 60,000 there. So, that maybe implies ticket sales then were around that mark or a little below and he was rounding up to be positive?
