Heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends. What a great bloke he was. Did so much for St Helens, for rugby league and for those who like him were struggling against adversity.

Tragic news for his family and friends. He fought for and extra 7 years when the doctors gave him months, completed some awesome fundraising feats - not for himself but for others. He will be remembered for his selflessness and bravery. RIP

RIP, a true inspiration, he could have given up the fight years ago, but he chose to fight on for his kids, his family and to raise money to help others.

Sad loss for the sport and mankind in general, what a truly inspiration guy for generations to come RIP Steve.

RIP to a true legend, a gentleman and inspiration for all. I have never, ever heard a bad word said about him from anybody. Testament to how well respected, revered and loved he was by anybody who knew, or knew of him.

I hope it's not too late to honour Steve with a minute's silence in Hull at 14:30.

RIP Steve, you'll be missed.
