He never got under my skin. Too busy admiring his skill and classy match control. He had the mark of a true great - always appearing to have time to spare on the ball.
What was that magnificent World Cup match he figured prominently in when he and the rest of the Welsh players put themselves about like their lives depended on it? I've got a picture of him performing some outrageous piece of effort and skill to turn the match.
Very very good player. Could have been world class with a better attitude, did go missing a bit sometimes, but still a player to be admired and missed.
Say what you like, but he was an entertainer. Technically gifted but with the air of a chancer who'd give it a go given half a chance rather than memorise a playbook.
