47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| Ok at one point reading this I really did not care. But I'm going to join in anyway.
If I go to a shop and buy a melon (not indicating anyone here is a melon)
Then the shop assistant tells me it's buy one get one free.
I have attended the shop once, I have bought 2 melons.
The shop is not going to say it sold only 1 melon, because that would ruin it's stock control. It's not going to say I only got half of each melon as it would still only make one melon.
It really depends what you want to count. For example, lets say the total attendance at Warrington was made up entirely of the same people who attended at Cardiff, would we say that it only counts as one attendance, because they also went to another match that weekend?
Effectively the 2nd Cardiff game can be treated as a BOGOFF. When people are talking about what is fair, well fair to whom?? When comparing with other sports, they do the same so it's fair. When compared to other RLWC's it's not fair as they did not have double headers.
In effect the double headers are something of a new thing and so make it hard to compare one event with another. So you can use any method, if you are comparing to other WC's then my guess would be that the fairest method is to treat it as one event. Total attendances at world cup events/How many world cup events there are.
Discussions of games attended are only relevent if you can buy for each game. Obviously we can't so you can't do an average per game, it has to be an average per event, when comparing with previous years.

RLWC2013 Aggregate Attendance
Let's just have a final instead then. That would surely be better. The average could then be just 74,500.

| There's not a mathematician, a level maths student, GCSE maths student, 11year old of a normal iq who would divide 28 data points by 26 and call it an average. The fact there are only 2 people doing so, and those two people have spent months before the WC telling us all how terrible it would be and how nobody would attend pretty much tells us all we need to know.
Everyone else accepts it's either 26 data points divided by 26 or 28 data points divided by 28, if Gutterfax and William Eve need to redefine what an average is to rescue what they think is some level of credibility, let them.

| Quote: Shoe Shine Johnny "Thanks for finally clearing up the events thing once and for all. If we look at the breakdown between the two tournaments it provides a more realistic comparison.
Final
1995 66500 (1 event) Ave 74,000
SF
1995 46000 (2 events) Ave 67,500
QF
1995 No Events
2013 46,900 (4 events) Ave 11,725
Pool Games
1995 152500 (12 events) Ave 13,455
England Games/Events (All games)
1995 177,500 (5 events) Ave 36,900
England Games/Events (Pool Games)
1995 83,000 (3 events) Ave 31,500
Non-England Games/Events
1995 88,500 (10 events) Ave 12,976
Difficult to compare 28 game (26 event) tournament against a 15 game tournament with no QFs etc. but this seems to. Both great tournaments and should be celebrated.'"
Excellent post putting this thread to bed.

Just to be a pedant ![Wink icon_wink.gif](images/smilies//icon_wink.gif) they're doing 26 data sets by 28 (otherwise they'd be getting a BIGGER average, and I'm sure they wouldn't want that!).
