What's that got to do with how good a commentator Ray French is?

The inference is that all the moaners on here could do better - if not then suggest an alternative

Mark Chapman sounding fine to me...

I'm currently enjoying the privilege of listening to him commentate on our semi on Radio Manchester from Bavaria. Trent Westwood is playing well.

Just to be even about it, I was only half listening, but when a man was down in the game today, Nobby called it as Holdsworth but it was Ellis.

So they all make mistakes.

Earlier on there were some elbows from Westwood too, he may need a talking to about that. Seemed uncalled for.

Is it? I took the inference to be that Ray French isn't a very good commentator.

The BBC IMHO actually quite like us having Ray French and before him Eddie Waring.

They both played into the BBCs stereotypical image of 'ragbe leeg'.

For those who have been around for many a year.

We wanted Waring to be 'sacked', but the BBC basically said it was either Waring on the BBC or no Rugby League!

Personally I have no doubt that both French and especially Eddie Waring, they both love(d) the game. But IMHO, both should have been 'put to grass' many years before they became a standing joke by RL fans and the general public.
