| Here's some stars for you:-
2011- Wigan v St.helens- Warrington - 12700
Average of 6350 per club
Leeds v Castleford- Doncaster- 13158
Average of 6500 per club
2012-
Leeds v Wigan- Huddersfield- 12800
Average of 6400 per club
Huddersfield v Warrington- Salford- 9500
Average of 4750 per club
Are people getting the trend? Clubs tend to take between 4000 and 6000 to a semi final. Wigan today took 6000 London took 100. One teams support is consistent with the trends!

| Quote Cronus="Cronus"As I've just said on the other thread: let's say the semi had been against Saints at the Halliwell Jones. Wigan take 6,000 and Saints take 6,000 and suddenly we're all fairly happy there's a 12,000 crowd on in a CC semi-final. 12-13,000 is fairly average for a CC semi.
And that's a conservative hypothetical example. When given a higher quality of opposition and the prospect of a closer game, more would probably choose to go. London were never going to win today, everyone knew that and it showed.
Get a grip. When one side brings next to no-one, the attendance will be poor.
But don't let that get in the way of both those brain cells enjoying a rant.'"
Hmmm...funny how when we played london in the cup last year those excuses weren't acceptable, but now they are ?

| Regarding the neutrality of the venue. In 1986 Leeds played 2 Challenge Cup semis (inc. a replay) at Elland Road.

I really do wish some of our fans would get their chip off their shoulder and not be so sensitive. Fans I meet in general like what we are doing and wish us well on here it seems the opppsite is true because of the attitude certain people adopt and trying to get kudos for our gates from the semi final attendance is baffling and way off the mark
Compare like by like by all means but pathetic points scoring in a game we can not win is just a waste of time but sadly par for the course.

| Cant believe this thread was even started. Hudd fan going on about attendance?
It was a walkover game with a derby before it and Wembley to pay for. I mean, what were people expecting?
Could understand if ppl were asking about London fans for what was the biggest game of the season, but amount of Wigan fans?
Get a grip.

| Very sad to see how complacent RL fans have become about one of the greatest RL comps in the world.
When I think back to the excitement of the semis I attended in the 80's it remains some of my fondest memories. Actually knowing you were going to Wembley was almost as good as being there on the day. Maybe the lopsided nature of games these days or the fact it's the same teams winning everything each year is the cause more than what time of year it is played? Very sad for the great game and the great occasion that should be the challenge cup.

| Quote fun time frankie="fun time frankie"To be fair to Huddersfield they took a very good following to Warrington in the quarter final'"
for us, yes it was very good, but of course not really mentioned much, however had we only taken a few hundred we would have been jumped on straight away being called disgraceful etc, to be fair our away support has been pretty decent all year when compared to other clubs.
in fact only 4 teams have brought over 1000 to ours this year, so crowds are definitely down, but only one club gets ripped for it.
the original post I think was irony, but some people clearly don't get irony.

likewise last years quarter final, we played London, most would have said it was a foregone conclusion due to form at the time, it was a sunday evening kick off on tv with no away support but yet we still got slaughtered for it, yet percentage wise to home crowds it was probably no worse than what wigans was today.
that's what bugs us fartowners as it seems everyone can have poor crowds but when it Huddersfield, no reasons are valid, everyone else can have excuses for poor crowds but we cant!

| When you are having a go at attendances, basically you are not having a go at a team or a club, but the fans of that club for not turning up.
However, when 6000 Wigan fans (more likely 6,200) turn up for a match and you have a go at them for not up, then expect a portion of of that 6000 to hit back for you having a go at them.
When people have a go at the 2k attendance that Huddersfield got against London , the total number of people to stand your corner is proportionally less.
It's nothing to do with Valid or invalid excuses, it's simply about the number of people who can stand your corner in forums.
I'd argue that if people are having a go at Huddersfield for their crowds this year, it's because it is unusual for a side being more successful to suffer a drop in crowds, usually the glory hunters start to turn up, boosting attendances. Because this has not happened for you, then people are expecting the Huddersfield success story not to last. Thinking that longer term their better supported teams will float back to the top.
But that's not necessarily the case, if success was just about the numbers who watch, then Saints period of success (with not the biggest crowds) and Hull FC's annual (underperformance) would eventually even out.
If people are having a go at the crowds, then just take it for the compliment it is, if they can't compete with your team, then they attack something else, regardless of it's importance in the success of your team.
Just need to not take it so personally.
