Quote: Erik the not red "Although he is never going to be mistaken as the next Wayne Bennett, Agar is far from Hull's worst ever coach - let alone RL's. Yes he had limitations but until we know how much his hands were tied by the board then to label him the worst is most unfair. Furthermore he has shown at Wakey that he has some ability. The worst Hull coach was undoubtedly Len Casey - utterly clueless and what more he was exactly the same in his other short and dismal coaching tenures elsewhere.'"
Sadly RL and I parted company for a few years so I wasn't really into the game when LC was at Hull, though I've read what a tool he was the squad we had compared to the rest of the league was much lesser than the 2008-11 squad comparatively. Agar had the resources/income (we made profits for 5 years runnng!) and spent full cap AFAIK but with us finishing 2nd and 3rd from bottom with no CC win to speak of in 3 years Agar took a decent side and 'coached' us into a boring, tactically niave, passionless load of poop. No man management skills, no balls to drop players, no idea on bringing through the kids..utterly utterly clueless.
That he'd been a no.2 for a while and seems a nice guy just made things worse.
With Casey you kind of expected it to be pants because he was a one dimensional thug/tool on the pitch, who thought he'd be a good coach needed psychiatric help to be fair...
