After watching Hodgson do this a couple of times yesterday, I thought, what a ridiculous rule.

So a player can put in a perfectly weighted kick into the in-goal only for a defender to stand off the pitch and pick it up if it’s still moving, however slightly.

I was also under the impression that a charge-down did not result in the re-set of the tackle count, did I imagine this one?

You are making it sound like you made up the rule or are an administrator of the game? lol.

Ah you may well laugh Sadfish but it seems a pretty simple Refs decision though. What part don't you understand?

The Ref said his support player acted as a Driver to get him over the line.
Its not the same as trying to stop a player being driven over the side line is it?
One is trying to stop a player being forced out (probably not within the rules either) the other is pushing a player over for a T.R.Y now is that the same thing?
There is another game that allows this to happen frequently apparently, its called Rugby Union

I think that depends on the game situation. Both times in that game it would have been better to be defending in the opponents 20, but say near the end of the game when it was locked at 22-22 it would have been better to have the ball back in your own 20 and go for a long range try.

I think the captain should tell the ref what they want.
