Quote: Barbed Wire "JP was titanic on Friday, had a massive impact on everything Leeds did well. I'm not massive on stats, but 32 tackles and 33 carries is an astonishing efforts. And he's not a Denis (take the easy carry) Betts, every one of them was hard earned. He would without doubt add to any team he played in as he is a champion.
But, lets respect his decsion and the reasons behind it and give the current generation guys a crack. Hill, Graham, Burgess, Crabtree, Mossop, Huby, Harrison, LMS, Carvell and Lynch are playing to a decent standard, while not re-writing the book they are all punching their weight and lets hope the carrott of and England Jumper will inspire a strong run of form in the back end of the year. The front row is an area where we have always had a bit of wealth, even when we had to look away from the main stay. I'd like to see some more force their way in to the squad on form, Huby, Scruton and LMS have always had club recognition, but fitness/form has held them back, I'd like them to stand up and push the next best, and the next best stand up and push the best.'"
To be fair Crabtree is averaging about those stats every week, and was essentially carrying the Hudds team at the end of 2012; see Hull away in the playoffs as an example. I think I'd go for Graham, Burgess, Crabtree, Hill/Mossop, with Ellis, O'Loughlin, Farrell, Hock, L Burgess etc in the back row. I also don't think we're quite as impoverished in the halves/three-quarters as some make out. I think we're so used to using that as an excuse/moan, but Sinfield, Brough, Chase, and Widdop are all top drawer half backs. Watkins, Charnley, Cudjoe, Hall, Atkins, Briscoe, and Ratchford to name but a few are all great, young three-quarters.
