Quote: WorldWideSaint "The current rule gives the try scoring team one minute from the moment the try is scored, not from when the officials are in position. Once that minute passes, the clock is stopped.
Also, at the kick off, once one entire team is ready to play, time is called off.
So its simple, if a team scores in the 78th minute and gets themself within a score, they take the kick within a minute, and by the time the kick is taken you'd expect everyone bar the kicker to be ready to receive the kick off. After that, its a simple case of as soon as the touch judges are in position (20 seconds max), the clock stops. That gives the receiving team, at worst, 40 seconds, to win the game.
Wheres this rubbish about two minutes come from?'"
The idea is to give try scoring team the option to use the minute for the conversion kick or stop the clock which doesn't start until the opposition kick off to restart the game.
