still doesnt say there will be a decision by the end of the week.
Quote RoofaldoHowever, details of how the board will decide whether the club can remain in the top-flight are not expected to be confirmed until the end of this week.'"
Only talks about announcing how they will make decision until end of week. nothing stopping them announcing the process immediately followed by decision I suppose, But the story doesnt say that.

| Have been awarded a '1 year probationary SL licence' apparently. So they're safe for 2013 at least.

Once again the RFL refuse to come clean in a failed attempt to sound 'fair'.
They are either in or they are not to suggest anything else is simply rubbish.
Some are going to jump on me over this I would imagine but using a 'probation' is simply hot air and deep down they and everyone else know it.

It has all the appearance of a classic RFL fudge I'd agree. I imagine they had zero luck putting together a 'mini licencing round' so this is Plan B.
EDIT: The official statement confirms that part of the reason was the impracticality of organising a mini licencing round in the time available.
Interesting statement actually. They've basically put SL and the Championship in a holding pattern pending the results of the comprehensive review.

Now, now - I'm sure the terms of their probation will be clear, unambiguous and widely communicated.
Sarcasm aside, mistakes have been made and licensing was badly compromised even before this, but we have to look to the future and hope that something better replaces it in the near-ish future. This is hopefully no more than a convenient pretense, to buy a bit of time, which is sensible enough. At least they didn't go with the mini-round - this is a much more honest kind of sham.
Small mercies and that.

From the Bulls board:
Quote Mild RoverRFL PRESS RELEASE
Bradford Bulls awarded probationary Super League licence
The RFL Board of Directors has awarded a one-year probationary licence to Bradford Bulls which will allow the club to remain in a 14-team Super League for 2013.
The decision of the RFL’s independent Board of Directors was relayed to Bradford Bulls and the sport’s other member clubs earlier today and ends the uncertainty that has surrounded the structure of both Super League and the Championship competitions in recent months.
Bradford Bulls were reinstated as full members of the RFL earlier this week after the club’s new owner provided all the financial information required for the governing body to complete its due diligence process.
RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood said: “This is a very positive development which provides stability for all the clubs in Super League and the Championship and allows the sport to approach next season with even greater confidence.
“The Board deliberated long and hard and took into consideration the many views of the sport’s various constituents before reaching a decision which we believe is in the best interests of the whole game.
“The new owners of Bradford Bulls are to be congratulated on their foresight in purchasing a club which we always knew was a very attractive proposition. Their investment in Bradford Bulls is a vote of confidence in Super League.
“A probationary licence allows us to closely monitor the performance of Bradford Bulls next season and develop a view on what direction we take in future years. That direction will be framed by the ongoing strategic policy review that we expect to present to clubs in the first half of 2013.
“The probationary licence also precludes the need for a mini-licensing round, which the overwhelming majority of clubs accept was impractical given the timeframes involved.
“The RFL Board and Executive will continue to work with all member clubs to build on the terrific progress we have experienced in 2012.”

Looks like this might actually be a (semi) considered response given that the structure of SL may well change before the 'probabtion' period expires. At which point all bets are off.

| They should have been told that this season was their last in super league, next year they are down back in NL2 and have to start again. It's not a fudge, it's a farce. Super league can continue without them.
