| (according to google)
Pongia played half a season whilst he knew about his condition.
This would suggest that it isn't something that should necessarily rule whoever this is out of continuing their career.

| Good decision by the powers that be to get everyone screened. Cant hurt anyone and puts the club and players mind at ease. Blimey we've had some bad'uns this year!
Whoever you are, best wishes for a speedy recovery!

| It doesn't have to be debilitating. Obviously chronic Hep B affects your liver but for many it can just be uncomfortable and low energy for a few weeks because of sickness and lack of appetite.
Problem to a sports man is that it can be passed by blood and bodily fluids so cuts and scrapes on rugby field is an easy way to get quick spreading virus across the sport. Some cases will then be worse than others depending on who they are.
Good that it has been spotted and people can get tested but it doesn't necessarily mean the player can't play again.
.....I should say all this is an unqualified opinion. Just know from someone who has had it and the gods of the interweb.

| Both teams physio in a recent championship game I went to, had no gloves on and one used the same towel on several players. The doctor came on and had gloves on though!
