I think you are all missing the main thing here. Channel 4's big day is Saturday so there is no way she will be doing RL for the beeb on a Saturday, freelance or not.

get her on sky instead of eddie and stevo please

no need to ask, i really cant see C4 poaching her from BBC for the racing only to say, "sure you go do the RL on a saturday love"

Don't see that her doing racing coverage on Saturdays would affect anything. The BBC will probably just televise games on Sundays to suit themselves best if they really wanted to retain Ms Balding.

However they could just 'promote' Tanya Arnold to fill in.

Or we could ask her and see what she says (yes, I know speculation and assumption is preferred on the VT -but what harm can it do? Especially as C4 spokeswoman says number of days (out of 90 race days) Ms Balding will work is still to be decided)

For me BBC should bring in gabby yorath as the new presenter.

Gabby LOGAN is very much a Union girl, although she too is a Northerner.

Balding's contract with C4 is non-exclusive, so in theory she could present RL for the BBC. Will be interested to see whether she presents CC Final coverage, given she'll be the main presenter of the Paralympics for C4 starting a few days later.

She is brilliant for our sport, I hope she is allowed to continue presenting it. Her BBC Radio 4 documentary on the 1895 schism earlier in the year was brilliant, if it ever finds it's way onto the internet be sure to give it a listen. Only a 15 minute thing but she tells the whole thing perfectly, focusing on the impact the northern union had on individuals who were treated terribly by the Rugby Union.

I've said for ages that she'd be a better bet than Eddie to front a revamped Sky team - her breathless enthusiasm for the game is very refreshing and she's a likeable character. With a knowledgable former player alongside her (Carney would be a good bet) it would be a massive improvement over the hackneyed and well past it's sell by date line-up of Eddie and bleedin' Stevo, who drag the game down and ruin the Sky coverage.

Eddie's fine. It's Stevo who drags the whole thing down with his unique line in malapropisms and tired Stevoisms, and burning desire to stoke up controversy.
