| Quote Conroy="Conroy"Strange really considering that the exact same shirt last year was embroidered. (well, not exactly, it's the same as the St Helens, Wire, Wigan, Leeds, Hull etc etc shirts)'"
The difference in quality between this England shirt and last seasons Warrington shirt (which I also have, £2.99 JJB bargain!) is ridiculous. This England shirt is described as a 'Supporters' shirt though so this may be where the difference lies

| Quote gutterfax="gutterfax"This is the way that all companies should deal with errors like this......and most in office supplies do.
It cultivates customer loyalty and also contributes to the delivery of a better service in the long run as the "free goods" you've just received come straight off their bottom line.'"
Exactly. The cost to them is peanuts as it would have cost them nearly as much to pay the return postage. For that they now have my loyalty as a preferred supplier and I will recommend them to my friends as well.
I was going to name the company but wasn't sure if that was allowed.

| I ordered some black and white print cartridges from Kodak and they sent colour ones. When I rang them they apologized and sent the B+W ones. I asked about returning the colour ones and they said "don't bother, it's our mistake"
They also sent me a free printer head replacement, even though it was out of warranty.
I'd certainly buy from them again.

Unless he works for IMG and also moonlights as a chairman for all 14 Superleague clubs, I doubt it

| Quote Finsbury Wire="Finsbury Wire"Is it worth getting so worked up over a pound?
We could set up a postage hardship fund for you?'"
Doesn't matter if its a pound or a hundred, it still sends the message "we are a two bit outfit staffed by a bunch of clowns" ( I mean this isn't a kid in a call centre, but a supposed business development manager). Not that we need any more messages, one look at the bloke in charge is all that's needed.

| It's also a matter of law. The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) clearly states that a buyer should not be out of pocket if the vendor has broken the contract of sale in any way.
Return postage 2nd class up to 750g is £2.20, up to 1kg is £3.50. Not a small amount of money so the 'pound' claim was BS.

I agree about the money, I'm sure the guy is not fussed about £1, it's the principle. If I was him I'd have asked for a full refund as opposed to the shirt, but I am hard faced about stuff like that.
Also, for the sake of a quid, look at the advertising this bloke has got in this thread - beyond stupid.

Flip it round, if when he made his initial order he'd said, oh btw, i CBA paying postage and packaging, would the RFL have even sent anything out in the first place? no they wouldn't.

I don't follow what you're saying there. They send the wrong thing, they should pay for return postage, right? Doesn't seem controversial to me. Like I say, the amount is totally irrelevant, it's just about saying "sorry, our mistake, we'll fix it". Anything else looks really unprofessional, I can't think where they dragged up the bus. dev. guy if he's so stupid. TBH, I've seen some of the advertised salaries for posts with the RFL, and concluded that "If you pay peanuts...". FWIW, better to have half the staff numbers but pay for better ones, than twice as many if it means that most are amateur chumps.

| I've probably quoted the wrong person, but yes, if in kid original transaction he said, I don't want to pay for p and p, they're not going to say, oh alright then. Much like they shouldn't be expecting him to foot the bill now
