To be fair, I don't think I ever expected anyone to agree on RL Fans (just like Total Morons RL) as there's nothing wrong with the game in many people's eyes here. However, what gets me is that people deride it as a load of rubbish but then don't actually have the intelligence to respond to the points raised, which makes me think that people just don't want to see what's staring them in the face. I appreciate that it's beneath a lot of you but there is a lot of discussion on this thread, and just because the content doesn't conform with Rugby League Propaganda, doesn't mean that some of the participants haven't raised valid points. Read it all and have to say that I agree with quite a lot of what has been written.
I have been a fan of the game over 50 years and my agreement with many of the points made is not based upon dewy eyed sentimentality.

I posted similar on the Leeds board when this was discussed.

People in 60s 70s and 80s probably used to moan about the game not being as good then as it was with unlimited tackles for example.

Nice. However, this is another one of those global responses that derides the content without actually pointing out what is wrong and why it is wrong.

FWIW I'm not going to start getting personal either, but it's a shame you're not feeling the rugby league as of late. You don't think in any way this is down to St Helens not being the force they once were?

Your team won everything and were on top for so long that it became formulaic, and now, they've fallen a bit and it's not the same? You feel like when you're not on top the team is inferior but when you are on top it's not the same. The chase is far better than the prize. Have you considered this?

There's nothing wrong with it, its your opinion. There're are some things in the article I agree with to an extent but I can accept the game is different now, and I still enjoy watching it.

Its like everything in life, it changes and sometimes those changes are hard to take, whether those changes are going bald or your knees starting to go or the fact that there're no GB tours any more.

I've always generally agreed with most things Dave has written about the game over the years so it isn't surprising that I broadly agree with the article as a whole, but specifically about the game on the pitch itself.

My first game was in '87 as well and, though I am a good few years younger personal experience tells me that a lot of people my age and a bit older are getting fed up of the game and not following it, or being as interested in it, as we used to. It isn't down to our teams not winning as is always the predictable response, of the five Leeds fans in my office three of them have stopped renewing their season tickets over the last couple of years - and these are people who probably have more disposable income than they've had in the past.

It's not a good demographic for RL to be losing support from, these are people who'd be expected to take kids of their own, or nieces and nephews to games to keep the line of support going - and if many fall out with the game it will have a negative longer term impact.

The changes have sanitised the sport of RL, that along with our inability to beat the Aussies has led to a situation where there are now no surprises, no dreams, no passion and loss of emotion, 10 games since I packed in now , and not missing it, Leigh will win today at York and might with a bit of luck make the GF, but ultimatly it wont mean a lot

Same for the bulk of the rest of the teams

If you've given up, sod off then. Stop dragging the rest down. Either give up properly or don't. Leigh deserve better support.
