As a Rovers fan our season has been up and down, we have been so inconsistant not just in the season but individual games for example Huddersfield at home we were woeful for 33 mins and got two quick tries before half time and then turned it around and the other example was Bradford at home. The frustrating thing is we show really positive signs and they then slip back into old habits. I am of the belief that we are harder to defend against this year and less predictable in attack and that Sandercock will come good although not all fans are of this opinion.
We are starting to offload the dead wood like Scott Wheeldon whilst its encouraging to see the likes of Scott Taylor and Liam Salter putting in good performances whilst Sandercock appears to have done wonders for josh Hodgson, Rhys Lovegrove and the reborn Scott Murrell whilst not being afraid of throwing the youngsters in as he kept faith with Salter against Wigan instead of moving a 2nd rower there as we had become used to.
Other teams like Hull and Huddersfield have performed better than I expected and I am intrested to see whether they will peak to soon whilst the others are were I thought they would be although I do believe we will replace Bradford in the 8 by the end of the year. Players that have been impressive apart from the usual suspects for me include Luke Robinson, Richard Whiting and Micheal Mcclorum.
One downside this year is the overkill on the sky sports presenters, its time Stevo and Phil Clarke were let go for me and Phil Clarke stats segments needs dropping abit like his meter thing that lasted all of 4 rounds I think it was. Keep Eddie to head the show but not the commentating side just have Jon Wells and Brain Carney with him and maybe add Bill Arthur to the commentry bit more often.
Wigan have clearly been the best side so far this season with only the odd performance being below their high standard. Giants have impressed for the most part but they still seem short of the steel in the biggest games. Catalans look a fine side, too, and not far short of contesting finals. My own side, Wire, have not played as well as in 2011, and need to improve considerably if we want to win any silverware, but on the positive side we have brought through several new under 20s players who look like genuine SL standard. London have been the biggest disappointment, and as a former 'part time supporter' during my years living in the capital I'm truly sad that they look weaker this year than ever. Individuals to impress include Scott Dureau, Luke Robinson, Sam Tomkins, and Richard Whiting. I have to disagree over Gareth Hock, though, who is the biggest thug in SL and seriously needs an attitide adjustment.
