I think Leeds want McShane and Hood long term - they've both recently signed new deals. Hood seems to be higher rated among those who've seen them coming through the ranks but they're very different (and hopefully complementary) styles of play.
For now it seems that Leeds' are treating both with kid gloves and easing them into the first team (partly at least because of Burrow's form)
